Job Title: Assistant Residence Manager

Job Function: Provide direct support services to individuals who reside at the house to assit individuals in having a fulfilling life. Assist Resident Manager with day to day operations of the program. Provide peace of mind to the families of the individuals.
Responsibilities:
- Carries out Direct Care duties as assigned. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Encourages independence in all areas of the resident's lives.
- Assists with housekeeping, meal preparation, recreational activities, and meeting dietary needs.
- Adhering to the residents' Individual Service Plans.
- Ensure customer satisfaction by doing what is necessary to meet the customers expectations.
- Provide a positive and nurturing environment.
- Treat people with mutual respect and recognition.
- Ensures supervision of all assigned Direct Support staff. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Instructs/models/observing staff to assure assigned tasks are done, and that regulations/policies are adhered to.
- Implements and revises staff schedules as necessary completing any documentation indicated.
- Ensures supervision of assigned direct care staff, as well as any other shift scheduled to cover.
- Provides shift coordination; ensures that active programming is completed and documented, and that all resident and facility needs are met.
- Ensures shift coordination; ensures that resident habilitation, IPOP's, recreational activities… etc. are carried out and that documentation is done.
- Assists with meal-time process – including preparations, diets, menus and sanitation – according to policy.
- Ensures the use of communication systems; ensuring that information is disseminated to appropriate persons/programs as needed. Keeps the Manager informed of any Incidents or Serious Reportable Events.
- Monitors supplies/equipment/physical plant, and informs manager of any needs.
- Provides effective supervision of direct care staff. Ensures accurate and up-to-date shift assignment sheets.
- Ensures all paperwork and documentation is complete.
- Attends all other meetings as assigned (staff meetings etc.).
- Attends and provides in-service training to staff regarding resident habilitation implementation, documentation, and other related areas. Ensures assigned direct care staff is trained in all required training.
- Participates in the on call system for the house.
- Encourages and supports team work and collaboration of each shift.
- Ensures home is maintained in a clean, safe, and well-organized manner (according to monthly home inspection checklists).
- Adheres to all agency policies and procedures, NYCRR 624, 633, 635, and other relevant regulations.
- Informs supervisor of unusual events that may occur while performing daily duties.
- Performs any other related duties consistent with this title and functions, as directed by the supervisor.
Qualifications:
- One year experience with MRDD population.
- Associates degree in the human service field, with at least one year experience with MR/DD.
- Reliable transportation NYS driver's license and be a licensed driver for 2 years and good driving record required for all positions.)
- Must be flexible.
- Must be able to provide coverage of shifts as the need arises.
- Ability to work independently and motivate others.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally in writing, or ASL.
- Ability to lift at least 50 lbs. dead weight.
- Maintain all required certifications/training by State regulations and CDS policy.
