Dear Friend of CDS,
There are few joys in life greater than bringing a few joys to someone else’s life. I’m sure you know this from firsthand experience. Try surprising someone with a gift without feeling like a million bucks yourself. It’s nearly impossible; we’re wired to feel good about making someone else’s day.
I am writing this letter to share with you an opportunity to bring joy today to someone with a developmental disability. Here’s the plan: As you may know, CDS hosts an annual outing to Disney World as a way of making dreams come true for individuals in our programs, regardless of their level of disability or physical challenge. As some of them have described it, this is a “trip of a lifetime”. Though we had a large group participate in our January trip, there are many more who wish to go to Disney this year. Therefore, with help from friends, we plan on hosting a second Disney trip this October.
Gifts to the Annual Fund help defray the cost of these trips, including airfare and lodging for dedicated staff and nurses who provide essential medical and one-on-one care during these trips.
To help our Disney travelers, and to establish a fund for other “dreams come true” activities, we are looking for 100 friends of CDS to donate $100 each to the Annual Fund. Though of course we are grateful for gifts of any size, we especially will be pleased to welcome our first 100/$100 donors as founding members of our “Disney Dream Team”, who will be eligible for all accompanying membership benefits (e.g. the joy of knowing you helped someone!)
